There is an entire fandom revolving entirely around its score attack features, with combos and score multipliers and a surprisingly punishing time limit. ![]() Except that’s not how you’re supposed to play, is it? NiGHTS’s levels are meant to be played again and again and again. It’s weird to say now, because as a kid the game seemed epic, infinite, mysterious, but in fact the whole thing can be banged out in about an hour, even if you’re not very good at it. Each level has four “mares” or tracks, starting with short loops that can be completed in a matter of seconds and ending with long circuits involving toboggan rides, rollercoasters, and getting shot out of cannons. Functionally, NiGHTS is a 2D side-scroller, its 3D environments reduced to a flat plane on rails in which the player is hurtling its avatar constantly to the right, like Sonic with floatier gravity. The story goes that Naka was inspired to create a game which mimicked the sensation of taking off in an airplane. How do I even explain NiGHTS? There’s the Wikipedia approach: NiGHTS into Dreams was a Sega Saturn game developed by OG Sonic Team luminaries Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Takashi Iizuka. Secondary Raynaud’s disorder is associated with a more serious underlying condition, disease, or factor. It occurs more frequently than the secondary type and is usually less serious. Primary Raynaud’s disorder has no known cause. There are two forms of Raynaud’s syndrome: primary and secondary. An attack can be triggered by stress or a sudden or brief exposure to cold temperatures. Attacks can last from a few minutes to an hour. During an attack or episode, blood flow to the hands and/or the feet is restricted. It may affect different parts of the body at different times. Raynaud’s may only affect one or two fingers or toes. In about 40 percent of cases, the toes are also affected. Usually, the fingers and hands are affected. It results in temporary constriction or narrowing of the blood vessels, called a vasospasm. Raynaud’s -This is a fairly common disorder that affects the arteries that supply blood from the heart to other parts of the body. If symptoms become more frequent or severe, your condition may require treatment. If your symptoms are mild or occur occasionally, you might ignore them. Symptoms may range from mild or moderate to severe. What diseases and conditions can cause the development of cold hands?Īside from exposure to cold temperatures or handling cold objects, some diseases or conditions can cause your hands to feel cold. When blood flow resumes, your hands might appear red and feel hot.įrequent or extended vasospasms can result in skin sores (ulcers) or tissue damage. The skin of the fingers and hands also might change color from pink to blue or white. This constriction or vasospasm causes the hands to feel cold. However, sometimes blood vessels will constrict suddenly, even when there is no apparent cause. This is a normal response, so that the body can conserve heat and protect the vital organs, such as the heart and lungs, from damage. Exposure to cold temperatures causes the muscles around these arteries to tighten or constrict. Blood flows from the heart to the hands through the ulnar artery and the radial artery. If your hands feel cold even during warm or mild weather, or they take a long time to warm up after being exposed to the cold, you may have a disease or condition that restricts blood flow to the hands. Removing items from a refrigerator or freezer, or immersing your hands in cold water can also make them feel cold. Spending time outdoors in cold weather or an air-conditioned space indoors can cause your hands to feel cold temporarily. Having cold hands is a common experience. Cold hands: What’s normal and what’s not? The delay of holding up the camera to take a photo, it being turned off or asleep and then staring into a black EVF waiting for an image to appear can be annoying! 5. With an EVF however, the camera needs to be turned on (since the camera’s sensor needs to be collecting light information, and then displaying it on the tiny screen). You can look through optical viewfinders with the camera turned off. You can often still shoot in the raw format (giving you the option of color later). So for example you could get a live preview of what everything looks like black and white (which can really help with composition as well as exposure selection. ![]() With an electronic viewfinder you can often turn on picture style settings and get a preview of what those settings will look like. With EVFs you’ll have a better idea of what your depth of field will look like (at the correct exposure) and be able to make faster decisions about lenses and focal lengths in order to get the depth of field you desire. Also it’s just a pain to be pressing a button whenever you want to see a depth of field preview. DSLRs do have a “depth of field” preview button which will close down the aperture to whatever you have it set to – the problem is that if you’re shooting at smaller apertures the depth of field preview button will make things look unrealistically dark through the viewfinder (since the small aperture will greatly reduce the amount of light going through to the optical viewfinder. With most optical viewfinders you’re looking through the optical viewfinder with the lens aperture set wide open – which doesn’t give you an idea of what the actual depth of field will be in the image when you press the shutter release. Just like with exposure you can get a preview of what your depth of field will be with an EVF. Having a realtime exposure preview will help you to dial in the exact exposure you want without constant chimping (like you might do with a DSLR with an optical viewfinder). With an electronic viewfinder you get a realtime preview of what your exposure will be – meaning the brightness of your photo will look like what you see through the EVF. Here are 7 things you need to know about electronic viewfinders: It’s really neat actually!īut with an electronic viewfinder (EVF), you’re actually just looking at a tiny screen (usually LCD or OLED). This may not seem like a significant difference, but having a camera with an EVF can make it a lot easier for you to learn photography. ![]() When you look through an optical viewfinder you’re actually looking through the lens of the camera (the light is bouncing off a mirror and flipped through a prism). Sometimes though, the planet is only harsh to humans, not other forms of life. Harder scifi settings can construct entire books about the sciences and engineering involved, not to mention the political and social effort these huge undertakings would entail. According to the NASA, terraforming Mars is simply not possible with our current technology (see press release here). Literally, because soft sci-fi settings tend to sneeze out terraforming efforts and planets like Martians with a cold. Terraforming itself is an actual area of study right now, as scientists try to design methods to create both self-contained environments (Bio-Domes being famous examples) and species that can survive in a hostile environment and improve it until it has a self-sustaining biosphere that can sustain humans.
